Project
“Investigation and monitoring of dams and hydroelectric basins in Georgia -
CIS”
The presenation of the project
took place on February 15, 2002 in the Ministry Fuel & Energy of Georgia. The aim of the project
was to apply modern and Non Destructive Investigation Techniques (NDT) for the investigations of dams and hydroelectric basins.The total cost of the project
was 650 thousand euro. Italian Ministry for the Productive Activities & Italian Ministry for foreign Commerce
were co-financing this initiative. 10,000 euro allocated by the Ministry for Fuel and Energy of Georgia
was spent on additional equipment. The project promoters were: EUREKOS S.r.l. (Portogruaro-VE-Italy) and Centre for Diagnostic and Monitoring of Constructions CMDC (Tbilisi- Georgia). The Italian Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics –OGS- (Borgo Grotta Gigante –Trieste - Italy), ACTA Consultants (Tbilisi - Georgia) and Energy Efficiency Centre (Tbilisi - Georgia)
were the project partners. In the course of the project implementation the Italian and Georgian Teams
worked jointly in Georgia. The Georgian specialists involved in the project
also participated in the training and in know-how transfer in Italy. Experts from the leading European Institutions (LCPC –Centre de Nantes and BAM –Berlin)
conducted this training, which included data collection, data processing and interpretation.This project
created the basis of a long lasting collaboration among the Partners with the target to create a JV for the management of this type of investigations in Georgia and in the Caucasian countries. |
